Skoda Octavia RS to Debut in India at Bharat Mobility Show

The highly anticipated Skoda Octavia RS is set to make its debut in India at the Bharat Mobility Show, alongside the first Indian showcase of the new Kodiaq SUV.

Octavia RS: A CBU Offering

Skoda’s history with the Octavia RS in India includes two limited-edition models: the RS 230, launched in 2017, and the RS 245, introduced at Auto Expo 2020. Both were brought in as Completely Built Units (CBUs) in limited quantities.

The upcoming Octavia RS, based on the fourth-generation model, could follow the same CBU route. This variant features a 2.0-liter TSI turbo-petrol engine delivering 265hp and 370Nm of torque. If launched, it is expected to carry a premium price tag due to its CBU status.

Fourth-Gen Octavia’s Journey in India

The standard fourth-generation Octavia, assembled locally, was introduced in 2021 and discontinued in 2023 due to the stricter BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. However, the model remains available in international markets and recently underwent a mid-life facelift.

India Plans for the New Octavia RS

At the Bharat Mobility Show, Skoda will showcase the fourth-gen Octavia RS to gauge consumer interest. Depending on the feedback, it may arrive in limited numbers at a later date. There have been discussions about local assembly of the facelifted fourth-gen Octavia, which could significantly reduce costs. If realized, this could position the Octavia competitively in the Indian market, with prices estimated to start around ₹30 lakh.

Given its premium appeal, the India-bound Octavia is likely to carry trims such as the ‘Exclusive Selection’ or the well-known ‘L&K’. However, a locally assembled variant remains a long-term possibility.

The Bharat Mobility Show will be a key platform for Skoda to showcase its future direction in India, with the Octavia RS poised to draw significant attention.
