New Kia Carnival launched at Rs 63.90 lakh

Kia has launched the all-new fourth-generation Carnival in India, priced at Rs 63.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This premium MPV is offered in a single fully-loaded Limousine variant and is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Initially, it is available exclusively as a 7-seater. Alongside this launch, Kia has also revealed pricing for its flagship EV, the EV9.

The new Carnival, imported as a CKD (completely knocked down) unit, comes with a significantly higher price tag than its predecessor, which was priced around Rs 33-34 lakh. However, the 2024 Carnival brings considerable upgrades in size, features, and luxury. Positioned between the Toyota Innova Hycross (priced between Rs 19.77 lakh and Rs 30.98 lakh) and the more upscale Toyota Vellfire (priced between Rs 1.22 crore and Rs 1.32 crore), the Carnival doesn’t face any direct competition in the Indian market.

2024 Kia Carnival: Design and Interior Highlights

As bookings opened on September 16, the Indian model is based on the facelifted fourth-generation Carnival, which debuted internationally in November last year. The new Carnival sports a more angular and robust design compared to its predecessor, featuring Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps with L-shaped DRLs, and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear also follows the L-shaped lighting theme, with connected tail-lights and an LED light bar.

The Carnival comes in two exterior colors – Glacier White Pearl and Fusion Black – and two interior themes – Navy with Misty Gray, and Tuscan with Umber. The cabin is arranged in a 2+2+3 seating layout, with heated and ventilated second-row captain seats featuring extendable leg support.

2024 Kia Carnival: Features

This fully-loaded variant is packed with modern features, including dual 12.3-inch curved displays, a 4-spoke steering wheel, dual electric sunroofs, three-zone climate control, an 11-inch head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, and a 12-way powered driver’s seat. It also offers wireless charging pads and a mix of haptic touch controls and physical dials for the HVAC system. Notably, the second-row captain chairs are equipped with power adjustments, heating, ventilation, and leg support. Additional convenience features include a powered tailgate and powered sliding doors.

In terms of safety, the Carnival is equipped with 8 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), rear disc brakes, hill assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, parking sensors on all sides, a 360-degree camera, and an ADAS Level 2 suite. The advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) includes features like Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning, High Beam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more.

2024 Kia Carnival: Engine and Warranty

Under the hood, the new Carnival retains the 2.2-litre diesel engine, producing 193hp and 441Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering power to the front wheels.

Kia offers three years of free maintenance, warranty, and roadside assistance with the new Carnival. The MPV has already garnered 2,796 bookings since pre-orders opened.
