2026 Kawasaki Z650RS Launched in India at Rs 7.83 Lakh: E20 Update, New Colour, Same Neo-Retro Charm

Kawasaki India has introduced the 2026 iteration of the Kawasaki Z650RS, updating the retro-styled middleweight to comply with India’s E20 fuel norms. While the motorcycle remains mechanically unchanged, it now gets a revised torque output, a fresh paint scheme and a marginal price hike. The 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS is priced at Rs 7.83 lakh (ex-showroom).

What’s New on the 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS?

The biggest update for 2026 is under the skin. Kawasaki has made the Z650RS E20-compliant, allowing it to run on petrol blended with up to 20 percent ethanol. This update aligns the bike with upcoming emission and fuel regulations in India.

Visually, Kawasaki has added a new metallic blue and gold colour scheme, replacing the earlier black-and-gold option. The retro-inspired bodywork, classic round LED headlamp and gold alloy wheels remain unchanged, ensuring the Z650RS retains its timeless neo-retro appeal.

Engine and Performance

Powering the 2026 Z650RS is the same 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. It continues to produce 68hp, but torque has dropped slightly to 62.1Nm, which is 1.9Nm lower than before. This minor reduction is likely aimed at improving long-term reliability with E20 fuel.

Despite the small torque dip, real-world performance is expected to remain largely unaffected, with the engine still offering strong mid-range punch and smooth power delivery.

Price Update

The E20 update and new colour come at a small premium. At Rs 7.83 lakh, the 2026 Z650RS is Rs 14,000 more expensive than the outgoing model, which was priced at Rs 7.69 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict

The 2026 Kawasaki Z650RS is a regulatory update rather than a generational change. Buyers still get the same engaging parallel-twin engine, premium fit and finish, and unmistakable retro-modern styling—now future-ready with E20 compatibility. For riders seeking a stylish, refined middleweight with classic looks and modern hardware, the Z650RS continues to be a compelling option despite the modest price increase.
