E20-Compliant 649cc Engine
Powering the 2026 Ninja 650 is the familiar 649cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, now updated to run on E20 (20 percent ethanol-blended) petrol. Output figures remain unchanged at 68hp at 8,000rpm and 62.1Nm of torque at 6,700rpm.
The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and comes equipped with an assist-and-slipper clutch, improving comfort during long rides and reducing rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifts.
Chassis, Suspension and Brakes
The underpinnings of the Ninja 650 continue unchanged. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm telescopic fork at the front and a rear monoshock, tuned for a balance between sporty handling and touring comfort.
Braking hardware includes dual 300mm discs at the front and a 220mm rear disc, all backed by dual-channel ABS as standard.
Features and Technology
The 2026 Ninja 650 retains its modern electronics suite, which includes:
-
Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) with switchable modes
-
4.3-inch full-colour TFT display
-
Bluetooth smartphone connectivity via the Kawasaki Rideology app, offering ride data, notifications and system information
These features help the Ninja 650 stay competitive in the middleweight segment despite its conservative update.
Colours and Design
For 2026, Kawasaki is offering the Ninja 650 in a single Lime Green colour option, featuring updated graphics that were first seen on the internationally unveiled version earlier this year. The sharp fairing design and sporty proportions remain unchanged.
Price and Rivals
At Rs 7.91 lakh, the 2026 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is Rs 14,000 more expensive than the outgoing model. Despite the hike, it remains significantly more affordable than key rivals such as the Honda CBR650R, which is priced at Rs 11.16 lakh (ex-showroom).
Verdict
With E20 compliance now in place, the 2026 Kawasaki Ninja 650 continues to be a strong option for riders looking for a refined, versatile and relatively accessible middleweight sport-tourer. While it doesn’t bring major upgrades, its competitive pricing, proven engine and everyday usability ensure it remains a compelling choice in its segment.
All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.
