Tata Punch EV Facelift Revealed: Fresh Design, Enhanced Features Expected

Tata Motors has officially unveiled the refreshed Punch EV ahead of its anticipated launch, showcasing a contemporary exterior design and hinting at several upgrades that could strengthen its position in India’s growing electric compact SUV segment.

Redesigned Exterior with Modern Aesthetics

The updated Punch EV sports a reimagined front fascia featuring a closed-off grille that emphasizes its electric powertrain credentials. Departing from the current model, Tata has removed the black trim piece that previously connected the headlamp units, along with the LED light bar linking the daytime running lights. The front bumper’s scuff plate has also been subtly reworked to give the EV a cleaner appearance.

New Color and Wheel Options

Adding to its visual appeal, the facelift introduces a vibrant new yellow exterior shade with a contrasting black roof, reminiscent of the popular ‘Sunlit Yellow’ finish available on Tata’s Harrier SUV. The aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels feature a fresh design language borrowed from the larger Nexon EV, contributing to both aesthetics and efficiency.

Interior and Technology Upgrades on the Cards

While Tata hasn’t revealed the complete interior or rear design, industry expectations point toward meaningful technological enhancements. The refreshed Punch EV may receive the Nexon EV’s larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with updated software, replacing the current setup.

The cabin is expected to retain its comprehensive feature list, including:

  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Ventilated front seats for enhanced comfort
  • Wireless smartphone charging
  • 360-degree surround-view camera system
  • Auto-dimming inside rearview mirror
  • Connected car technology
  • Ambient lighting

Safety Enhancement: ADAS Expected

A significant addition could be a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, which would bring the Punch EV in line with competitive offerings and enhance overall safety credentials.

Powertrain and Range Specifications

The mechanical specifications are likely to remain unchanged from the current model. Buyers can expect the same dual-battery strategy:

25 kWh Battery Pack:

  • Power output: 82 hp
  • Torque: 114 Nm
  • ARAI-certified range: 265 km

35 kWh Battery Pack:

  • Power output: 122 hp
  • Torque: 190 Nm
  • ARAI-certified range: 365 km

Pricing and Market Positioning

The Punch EV facelift is expected to command a modest premium over the current model, which retails between ₹9.99 lakh and ₹14.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated design, enhanced features, and potential ADAS addition should justify the incremental pricing while maintaining the model’s value proposition in the competitive electric compact SUV space.

With these updates, Tata Motors aims to keep the Punch EV fresh and competitive as the Indian EV market continues to expand rapidly.
