After much anticipation and some playful teasing of its competitors on social media, Royal Enfield has officially launched the Guerrilla 450. Priced between Rs 2.39 lakh and Rs 2.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai), this new model brings several exciting features to the table.
Key Highlights:
- The base variant features a digi-analogue display similar to the Hunter and Shotgun models.
- The Guerrilla 450’s engine produces the same power as the Himalayan but is 11 kg lighter.
Engine and Performance: The Guerrilla 450 is powered by the 452cc liquid-cooled ‘Sherpa 450’ engine, identical to the one in the Himalayan. It generates 40hp at 8,000rpm and 40Nm at 5,500rpm. However, Royal Enfield has adjusted the tuning and gearing to better suit the Guerrilla’s unique character.
Chassis and Design: The chassis of the Guerrilla 450 is reminiscent of the Himalayan’s, with the engine acting as a stressed member of the main frame. The subframe, however, has been redesigned. The Guerrilla replaces the Himalayan’s USD fork with a gaitered telescopic unit but retains the monoshock for rear suspension. Braking is managed by disc brakes on both ends, assisted by dual-channel ABS. Notably, the front disc is slightly smaller at 310mm compared to the Himalayan, which has a 320mm disc. Both bikes share a 270mm rear rotor.
Despite these similarities, the Guerrilla 450 weighs 185kg, making it 11kg lighter than the Himalayan. Contributing to this weight reduction are an 11-litre fuel tank and smaller 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with tubeless CEAT tyres sized 120/70-R17 at the front and 160/60-R17 at the rear. These are the widest tyres ever fitted to a motorcycle made in India.
Variants and Features: The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is available in three variants: Analog, Dash, and Flash. The Analog variant sports a more subdued grey and black color scheme with some colorful accents, while the Dash and Flash variants offer bolder designs. There are five color options in total.
The Analog variant comes with a digi-analogue display and a supplementary Tripper navigation pod. The Dash and Flash variants feature a TFT dash with comprehensive connectivity options similar to those on Royal Enfield’s adventure bikes. Additionally, a wide range of accessories will be available for customization.
Pricing and Competition:
- Analog: Rs 2.39 lakh
- Dash: Rs 2.49 lakh
- Flash: Rs 2.54 lakh
The Guerrilla 450 will compete with the Triumph Speed 400 (Rs 2.34 lakh), Honda CB300R (Rs 2.40 lakh), and Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (Rs 2.92 lakh) in the Indian market.
