Ola Electric has entered the B2B segment with the launch of its first commercial electric scooter, the Ola Gig. Available in two variants, the base Gig is priced at ₹39,999, while the higher-spec Gig+ is available at ₹49,999.
Design and Features
The Ola Gig is purpose-built for commercial use, featuring a spacious single seat for the rider and a large rear carrier for cargo. Its design prioritizes functionality, making it ideal for delivery and rental services.
Both variants are equipped with drum brakes and a telescopic front suspension. They share a 1.5kWh removable battery pack, which can be upgraded to two packs in the Gig+ model.
Performance and Range
- Ola Gig: Powered by a 250-watt motor, it achieves a top speed of 25 km/h, exempting it from registration requirements. Ola claims a range of 112 km on a single charge.
- Ola Gig+: Features a 1.5kW motor with a top speed of 45 km/h, requiring registration. It offers a range of 81 km with one battery or up to 157 km with two battery packs.
Tech and Availability
The scooters can be started using an app-based access system, emphasizing convenience. While the company promises fast charging, specific charging times are yet to be disclosed. Other specifications, such as seat height, load capacity, and weight, remain under wraps.
Deliveries are expected to commence in April 2025, with the introductory prices making the Ola Gig an attractive option for businesses and fleet operators.
