Maruti Suzuki India announced on Thursday that it has started exporting the Grand Vitara, a mid-sized sport utility vehicle. The first shipment is headed to Latin America.
The country’s biggest car manufacturer and exporter wants to send this model to more than 60 countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, ASEAN, and nearby areas.
Maruti Suzuki has taken a number of steps to increase its international presence, which helps the Indian government increase exports.
“One of the keys to success has been growing the number of products that can be exported. With the Grand Vitara, we now export 17 different kinds of cars “In a statement, Hisashi Takeuchi, who is the Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, said.
Grand Vitara was first shown to the public in July 2022. It has been well received on the domestic market, and the automaker is confident that the India-made Grand Vitara will also do well in international markets, he said.
Maruti Suzuki exported more than 2.6 lakh cars in 2022, which was the most it had ever done in a single year.
The automaker said that by adding the Grand Vitara, the company hopes to strengthen its position as India’s largest exporter of passenger cars.
