Kawasaki Z900 Launched at Rs 9.29 lakh

Kawasaki has unveiled the 2024 Z900 in India at an introductory price of Rs 9.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India), marking a modest increase of Rs 9,000 over its predecessor. Despite maintaining the same design and specifications as the 2023 model, the latest iteration of the Z900 packs a punch with its robust performance.

The heart of the Z900 remains its 948cc inline-four engine, delivering a commanding output of 125hp at 9,500rpm and a torque of 98.6Nm at 7,700rpm. Paired with a responsive 6-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slip clutch, the motorcycle promises a seamless and exhilarating ride. However, it’s worth noting that the absence of a bidirectional quickshifter might be considered a drawback compared to its technologically advanced rivals.

Constructed around a sturdy steel trellis frame, the Z900 boasts a well-balanced suspension setup comprising a USD fork and monoshock, both adjustable for preload and rebound. Braking prowess is assured with twin 300mm front discs gripped by axially mounted Nissin calipers, complemented by a single 250mm rear disc.

In terms of electronics, the Z900 offers a modern TFT display that can be connected to a smartphone via the ‘Rideology’ app, facilitating notifications and navigation alerts. Additionally, riders benefit from two power modes, three riding modes, and three levels of traction control, enhancing both safety and customization options.

While the Z900 presents an enticing option with its formidable power and feature-rich package, potential buyers may ponder over its suitability compared to the Triumph Street Triple R. Despite the Z900’s lower ex-showroom price, factors such as on-road costs and tax brackets need to be considered. Ultimately, the decision between the Z900 and the Street Triple R may hinge on individual preferences regarding power delivery, handling, and overall riding experience.
