Volkswagen has confirmed that the Tiguan R Line will launch in India on April 14 as the flagship variant of the latest-generation Tiguan. Arriving as a completely built unit (CBU), the premium SUV is expected to be priced around ₹50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Sporty Exterior with Signature R Line Styling
The Tiguan R Line features an aggressive design with sportier front and rear bumpers, a roof-mounted spoiler, and exclusive R Line body panels. A standout feature is the full-width LED light bar at both the front and rear, adding a modern touch. The SUV also rides on larger 19-inch alloy wheels, giving it a commanding road presence. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Tiguan is 30mm longer, although the wheelbase remains unchanged.
Premium Cabin with Advanced Tech
Inside, the Tiguan R Line offers a premium experience with sports seats and ambient lighting that features three lighting zones and 30 color options. The cabin boasts a 10.3-inch digital driver’s display alongside a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system running Volkswagen’s latest MIB4 software, which supports over-the-air updates. The dashboard design is sleek and modern, enhancing the SUV’s upmarket appeal.
Powerful 265hp Turbo-Petrol Engine
Built on the MQB Evo platform, the India-spec Tiguan R Line is expected to come with a 265hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive (AWD). This marks a significant power boost over the current Tiguan, which offers 190hp from the same engine. While the R Line is available globally with mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and diesel options, these are unlikely to be offered in India.
Expected Price and Positioning
The current Volkswagen Tiguan in India is priced at ₹38.17 lakh (ex-showroom), but the next-gen R Line variant will come at a premium due to its higher specifications, added features, and full-import status.
