Suzuki Motor Corporation has officially entered the Indian electric two-wheeler space with the launch of its first EV scooter, the Suzuki e-Access. Priced at Rs 1.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), bookings for the electric scooter are now open, with customer deliveries set to begin soon.
The e-Access is based on Suzuki’s global electric platform and focuses on long-term reliability, consistent performance and durability—though its premium pricing places it among the costliest mass-market electric scooters currently on sale in India.
Suzuki e-Access: Key Highlights
-
Uses a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, a first for Suzuki scooters
-
4.1kW electric motor with 15Nm of torque
-
Claimed IDC range of 95km
-
One of the most expensive mainstream e-scooters in India
-
Backed by 7-year / 80,000km extended warranty and buyback assurance
Battery, Range and Charging
At the heart of the e-Access is a 3kWh LFP battery pack, part of Suzuki’s in-house e-Technology platform. Compared to commonly used NMC batteries, LFP chemistry is known for better thermal stability and a longer lifecycle, which Suzuki claims will translate into improved long-term ownership.
The scooter delivers a claimed IDC range of 95km, positioning it primarily as an urban commuter. Suzuki also highlights extensive validation tests including water submersion, vibration resistance, thermal stress and drop testing, aligned with its global standards.
Charging support includes:
-
DC fast chargers at over 240 Suzuki dealerships
-
Portable AC chargers available across the brand’s entire dealer network
Motor, Performance and Ride Modes
Powering the e-Access is a 4.1kW swingarm-mounted electric motor producing 15Nm of torque. Suzuki claims smooth and predictable throttle response, even when battery charge is low—an important factor for daily city use.
The scooter offers:
-
Three riding modes: Eco, Ride A and Ride B
-
Regenerative braking to improve efficiency
-
Reverse assist for easier parking in tight spaces
Final drive duties are handled by a belt drive system, which Suzuki says is maintenance-free and rated for up to 70,000km or seven years.
Chassis, Build and Design
The e-Access uses a lightweight chassis with the aluminium battery case integrated into the frame, helping improve rigidity and overall stability. While the overall design remains familiar and conservative, Suzuki has added a new dual-tone Matte Blue with Grey colour, taking the total number of colour options to four.
Dealership Network and Availability
Suzuki will sell the e-Access through its extensive network of 1,200+ dealerships across India. In addition to showroom sales, the scooter will also be available for purchase on Flipkart once deliveries commence.
As part of its launch offer, Suzuki is providing:
-
7-year / 80,000km extended warranty at no extra cost
-
60% buyback assurance for up to 3 years
Price and Market Positioning
The Suzuki e-Access is priced at Rs 1.88 lakh, placing it between premium electric scooters such as the Simple One Gen 2 and the Ather 450 Apex in terms of pricing. However, when compared to similarly intended family-oriented electric scooters, the e-Access is significantly more expensive.
Several India-made alternatives offer:
-
Lower prices
-
Larger battery packs
-
Comparable or higher claimed ranges
This makes Suzuki’s offering a premium bet focused more on brand trust, battery longevity and long-term ownership assurance rather than outright value.
Verdict
The Suzuki e-Access marks an important milestone for Suzuki in India’s fast-growing EV space. Its focus on LFP battery technology, durability and long warranty coverage will appeal to buyers prioritising reliability and peace of mind. However, its steep pricing could limit mass adoption, especially when rivals offer more range and features for less money.
Still, for buyers loyal to Suzuki and looking for a well-engineered, long-term electric scooter, the e-Access stands out as a distinctive—if premium—option.
