Royal Enfield has officially pulled the wraps off its much-anticipated Scram 440 at the 2024 Motoverse festival. Internally codenamed D4K, this new addition to RE’s lineup marks a significant evolution of the Scram series, blending updated engineering with thoughtful refinements.
Enhanced Powertrain
The highlight of the Scram 440 is its upgraded engine. The displacement has increased from 411cc to 443cc, achieved by enlarging the bore by 3mm. This results in a modest bump in performance, with the engine now delivering 25.4hp at 6,250rpm and 34Nm of torque at 4,000rpm—an improvement over the Scram 411’s 24.3hp and 32Nm. Complementing this is a new 6-speed gearbox and a lighter clutch, designed to enhance riding comfort. Additionally, the updated SOHC valvetrain reduces noise levels, further refining the overall ride experience.
Chassis and Suspension Updates
While the chassis design remains largely unchanged, it has been strengthened to support additional luggage, such as a top box. Ground clearance holds steady at 200mm, with the suspension retaining its 190mm front and 180mm rear travel. The braking system has seen a notable improvement, thanks to a larger piston for the front brake caliper.
Design and Features
The Scram 440 retains its recognizable aesthetic with refreshed color options and a new LED headlamp borrowed from RE’s latest models. It continues to feature a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, now offering the option of tubeless tyres and alloy wheels in addition to the standard spoked wheels. Switchable ABS, a highly requested feature, has been added. The digi-analogue instrument cluster remains standard, with the optional Tripper navigation pod available for added convenience.
Variants and Pricing
The Scram 440 will be offered in two variants—Force, equipped with alloy wheels and tubeless tyres, and Trail, which continues with spoked wheels. With the current Scram 411 priced between ₹2.06 lakh and ₹2.12 lakh, the Scram 440 is expected to carry a slightly higher price tag.
Launch Details
Royal Enfield plans to launch the Scram 440 in January 2025, aiming to continue its success in the adventure-tourer segment with a bike that balances rugged performance, modern updates, and affordability.
