Rolls-Royce to Unveil New Electric Vehicle in 2025

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is set to expand its electric portfolio, with CEO Chris Brownridge confirming the debut of a new EV in 2025. While the Spectre remains the only fully electric model in the lineup, speculation about the upcoming vehicle points to the possibility of a smaller SUV, potentially positioned below the Cullinan. This follows reports from Automotive News in September 2024, though exact details on specifications and release timelines remain under wraps.

Major Investment in EV Production at Goodwood

In its largest UK investment since 2003, Rolls-Royce is injecting over £300 million into its Goodwood facility to support EV production and customization programs. This expansion aims to accommodate an increasing demand for bespoke models, including highly customized vehicles like the Phantom, Cullinan, and Spectre, as well as exclusive coachbuilt cars such as the Sweptail, Boat Tail, and Droptail.

The customization segment saw significant growth in 2024, with the bespoke content value per vehicle rising 10% year-on-year. Among the most personalized models, the Phantom Extended Wheelbase retained its position as the top choice for customization, followed by the Spectre EV. Notably, buyers from the Middle East accounted for the highest bespoke orders.

No Hybrid Plans for Rolls-Royce

Unlike competitors such as Bentley and Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce has opted not to introduce hybrid powertrains. Brownridge emphasized the brand’s direct transition from traditional V12 engines to fully electric vehicles, maintaining its commitment to cease production of combustion-engine models by 2030. Despite challenges faced by the broader EV market, Rolls-Royce remains confident in achieving this ambitious target.

This bold strategy signals Rolls-Royce’s commitment to redefining luxury for a sustainable future while preserving its reputation for unmatched craftsmanship and innovation.
