Mahindra has strengthened its electric SUV lineup with the launch of the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, priced from Rs 13.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a compact, sub-4-metre electric SUV, the new model replaces the earlier Mahindra XUV400 and goes head-to-head with the segment leader, the Tata Nexon EV.
The XUV 3XO EV is available in two variants and shares its battery and motor setup with the discontinued XUV400, while adopting the more modern design and cabin of the ICE-powered XUV 3XO.
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV Price and Variants
Mahindra is offering the electric XUV 3XO in the following trims:
-
AX5 – Rs 13.89 lakh
-
AX7L (Luxury) – Rs 14.96 lakh
Prices are ex-showroom, India.
A 7.2kW AC fast charger can be added as an optional extra for Rs 50,000. Mahindra has confirmed that customer deliveries will begin from February 23.
Battery, Motor and Real-World Range
Under the skin, the XUV 3XO EV carries over the proven electric powertrain from the XUV400.
Key powertrain specifications:
-
Battery pack: 39.4kWh lithium-ion
-
Motor output: 150hp and 310Nm
-
Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive
-
Claimed real-world range: ~285km
-
0–100kph: 8.3 seconds
-
Drive modes: Fun, Fast and Fearless
Mahindra states that the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in about 50 minutes using a 50kW DC fast charger, making it suitable for both city use and occasional highway runs.
Design: Familiar Yet Fresh

Visually, the XUV 3XO EV mirrors the ICE-powered XUV 3XO, particularly the RevX trims. The front grille is body-coloured, with subtle bumper revisions to differentiate the EV. The lighting elements, alloy wheel design and overall proportions remain unchanged.
Inside, the layout is identical to the petrol and diesel versions, but Mahindra has added bronze accents on the centre console, AC vents and steering wheel logo to give the cabin a distinct EV identity.
Features and Safety Tech
The XUV 3XO EV carries over a comprehensive feature list, making it one of the most well-equipped electric SUVs in its price bracket.
Notable features include:
-
Dual 10.25-inch displays (infotainment + digital cluster)
-
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
-
Dual-zone automatic climate control
-
Wireless phone charger
-
Electronic parking brake with auto-hold
-
Cruise control
-
All-LED lighting
-
Panoramic sunroof (AX7L)
Safety highlights:
-
6 airbags
-
Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
-
Disc brakes on all four wheels
-
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on the top variant
-
Rear parking camera and sensors
Size, Platform and Practicality
Unlike the outgoing XUV400, which was over 4.2 metres long, the XUV 3XO EV measures under 4 metres, helping it qualify for lower tax brackets. However, this also means reduced boot space compared to the XUV400’s 378 litres.
Interestingly, the XUV 3XO EV is currently Mahindra’s only electric car adapted from an ICE platform. Other upcoming Mahindra EVs like the XEV 9e, XEV 9S and BE 6 are all ground-up electric models.
Rivals: How It Stacks Up
The biggest competitor to the XUV 3XO EV is the Tata Nexon EV, which is priced between Rs 12.45 lakh and Rs 17.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexon EV offers two battery options (30kWh and 45kWh) with an ARAI-rated range of up to 465km, giving buyers more flexibility.
However, the XUV 3XO EV counters with:
-
Quicker acceleration
-
A richer feature list in lower variants
-
A more compact footprint for city driving
Verdict
With aggressive pricing, strong performance figures and a long equipment list, the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV makes a compelling case for urban EV buyers looking for a compact yet premium electric SUV. While its range may not match larger rivals, its real-world usability, quick charging capability and modern cabin should appeal to buyers upgrading from petrol or diesel compact SUVs.
