Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new AMG Line variant of its flagship GLS SUV in India, with prices starting at ₹1.40 crore (ex-showroom). This new trim level is available with both petrol and diesel powertrains and features sporty AMG-inspired design elements inside and out. However, it remains unchanged mechanically.
GLS AMG Line Prices and Variants
The GLS AMG Line is offered in two versions:
-
GLS 450 AMG Line (Petrol): ₹1.40 crore
-
GLS 450d AMG Line (Diesel): ₹1.43 crore
The AMG Line commands a premium of ₹3 lakh over the standard GLS 450 petrol and ₹1 lakh over the GLS 450d diesel variant.
Sportier Styling with AMG Enhancements
Visually, the GLS AMG Line distinguishes itself with sportier bumpers, larger air intakes, and body-coloured cladding around the wheel arches and side sills, which are finished in black on the standard model. The rear bumper gets a more aggressive look too, with a black diffuser-like insert and a slim chrome trim.
Buyers can also opt for the AMG Night Package, which brings a stealthier aesthetic through blacked-out treatment on elements like the wing mirror housings, window surrounds, roof rails, grille slats, and the 21-inch alloy wheels. Inside, this package adds black leather on the dashboard.
Interior Tweaks
The cabin of the GLS AMG Line features several AMG-specific touches. Most notably, there’s a new twin-spoke AMG steering wheel. Other upgrades include stainless steel pedals and floor mats embroidered with AMG branding, adding to the sporty vibe.
Engine and Performance
Mechanically, the GLS AMG Line continues with the same powertrains as the regular GLS:
-
Petrol (GLS 450): 3.0-litre inline-six, 381hp, 500Nm
-
Diesel (GLS 450d): 3.0-litre inline-six, 367hp, 750Nm
Both engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and come with Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
Mercedes-Benz India Sales Update
Mercedes also shared its Q1 FY2026 sales performance alongside the new launch. The company sold 4,238 units between April and June 2025, marking a 10% year-on-year growth. Notably, top-end luxury models saw a 20% YoY increase, while electric vehicles recorded a 157% YoY jump, buoyed by strong demand for the EQS SUV.
With the GLS AMG Line, Mercedes aims to further strengthen its foothold in the luxury SUV market, offering Indian buyers a blend of sophistication, performance, and sporty design.
