BMW Motorrad is preparing to introduce its all-new F 450 GS to the Indian market in early 2026, with a launch timeline that is widely expected to fall in January. The adventure motorcycle, revealed globally at EICMA 2025, marks a significant step for BMW as it reshapes the entry point to its GS family with a more modern, performance-oriented platform.
Made in India with TVS
The F 450 GS will be produced domestically through BMW’s manufacturing partnership with TVS. This localisation should help the brand maintain competitive pricing in a segment that has seen rapid growth in India.
Engine & Performance
Replacing the earlier G 310 GS, the new model moves to a more advanced 420cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine.
-
Power: 48 hp @ 8,750 rpm
-
Torque: 43 Nm @ 6,750 rpm
-
Transmission: 6-speed
One of the key highlights is the ‘Easy Ride Clutch’ system, intended to drastically reduce clutch use during riding. BMW is positioning this as an innovation that enhances daily convenience and off-road usability, though its effectiveness compared to systems like Honda’s E-Clutch remains to be evaluated.
Features & Electronics
BMW has equipped the F 450 GS with a feature set that aligns with the expectations of premium ADV buyers. Key features include:
-
6.5-inch full-colour TFT screen
-
Heated grips
-
Four riding modes
-
Traction control
-
Switchable dual-channel ABS
Internationally, the bike is offered in four variants — Basic, Exclusive, Sport and Trophy — each distinguished by equipment levels and cosmetic enhancements. BMW India is yet to confirm how many of these trims will be offered locally.
Expected Price & Rivals in India
The F 450 GS is likely to be priced in the Rs 4.50 lakh – Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket, positioning it above its previous 310cc sibling while offering a substantial jump in performance and sophistication.
Key competitors include:
-
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 (Rs 3.06–3.37 lakh)
-
KTM 390 Adventure (Rs 3.95 lakh)
-
Honda NX500 (Rs 6.33 lakh)
While the RE and KTM offer strong value propositions, the BMW will appeal to buyers seeking premium engineering, twin-cylinder smoothness, and brand cachet.
What to Expect
The BMW F 450 GS aims to deliver a refined middleweight ADV experience with modern tech, improved performance, and practical usability. With local production, aggressive pricing and BMW branding, it is positioned to disrupt the premium ADV segment once it arrives in India.
