Maruti Suzuki has quietly upgraded its popular hatchback, the Wagon R, for the 2025 model year, introducing six airbags across all variants for enhanced occupant safety. This update follows similar enhancements made to the Alto K10 and Celerio recently. Previously, the Wagon R was offered with just two front airbags.
Key Safety Upgrades
Built on Suzuki’s Heartect platform, the 2025 Wagon R now features comprehensive safety enhancements. In addition to the new six-airbag setup, it also gains a proper three-point seatbelt for the rear center passenger, replacing the older lap belt. Other safety features, such as ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESP), rear parking sensors, and central locking, continue to be standard across the range.
No Design Changes
While the safety package has seen a major improvement, the design and cabin layout remain unchanged. The exterior styling is identical to the outgoing model, and the interior continues to feature a dual-tone dashboard, steering-mounted audio controls, a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 14-inch alloy wheels, and electrically adjustable ORVMs.
Engine and Transmission Options
Under the hood, the Wagon R retains its familiar engine choices — a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine (68.5hp, 91.1Nm) and a more powerful 1.2-litre 4-cylinder unit (90.95hp, 113.7Nm). Both engines are now compatible with E20 fuel (20% ethanol blend), offering improved knock resistance and slightly enhanced performance thanks to ethanol’s higher octane rating. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual or AMT, depending on the variant.
Maruti also continues to offer a CNG version of the 1.0-litre engine, which is available only with the manual gearbox.

Pricing
Maruti Suzuki is yet to announce the revised prices for the 2025 Wagon R. As of its last update, the hatchback was priced between ₹5.64 lakh and ₹7.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
