Upcoming Honda Cars in India in 2026: Prelude, ZR-V Hybrid, Elevate Facelift and City Update

Honda Cars India is gearing up for an important year in 2026, with a mix of premium imports and updates to its mass-market models. Alongside facelifts for the Elevate SUV and City sedan, Honda will introduce two high-end global models – the Prelude sports coupe and the ZR-V hybrid SUV – as part of its brand-building strategy. Here’s a detailed look at all the Honda launches expected in India in 2026.

Honda Prelude (CBU Import)

Expected launch: First half of 2026
Estimated price: Around Rs 80 lakh

The iconic Honda Prelude nameplate is set to make a comeback in India as a limited-run CBU import. Positioned as a premium grand tourer rather than an out-and-out sports car, the new Prelude will serve as a halo model for the brand.

Under the hood, it uses a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with two electric motors, delivering a combined output of around 200hp and 315Nm. Instead of a conventional gearbox, the system uses Honda’s S+ Shift technology, which simulates gear changes while the electric motors directly drive the wheels.

The chassis borrows select components from the Civic Type R, but the overall setup prioritises comfort and long-distance cruising. Honda is already working on E20 fuel compatibility and India-specific tyre specifications ahead of its launch.

Honda Elevate Facelift

Expected launch: Second half of 2026
Estimated price: Rs 11 lakh to Rs 17 lakh

Honda’s midsize SUV, the Elevate, will receive its first facelift in 2026 to stay competitive in a crowded segment. The update is expected to be subtle, with small revisions to the front and rear styling, refreshed interior trims and a few feature additions.

Mechanically, the Elevate will remain unchanged, continuing with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with manual and automatic transmissions. The facelift will focus more on visual freshness and equipment upgrades rather than mechanical changes.

Honda City Facelift

Expected launch: Second half of 2026
Estimated price: Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh

The fifth-generation Honda City is set to receive a second facelift in 2026, acting as an interim update before the all-new next-generation model arrives around 2028. While test mules haven’t been spotted yet, the changes are expected to be limited to exterior design tweaks and minor cabin updates.

The refreshed City could draw inspiration from global Honda models like the Civic, especially in terms of front-end styling. Inside, expect new upholstery and trim options, while the overall layout and feature list should remain largely familiar. Power will continue to come from the 1.5-litre petrol engine and the strong hybrid e:HEV powertrain.

Honda ZR-V Hybrid (CBU Import)

Expected launch: Fourth quarter of 2026
Estimated price: Rs 50 lakh to Rs 60 lakh

The Honda ZR-V will arrive in India as a fully imported hybrid SUV, positioned as a premium crossover and brand-building product. Internationally, it sits below the CR-V and above mass-market SUVs like the Elevate.

In terms of size, the ZR-V is significantly longer than the Elevate, though both share a similar wheelbase. The cabin features a clean, modern layout with a freestanding touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster and a distinctive push-button gear selector. Higher global variants offer features such as a Bose sound system, panoramic sunroof and powered tailgate.

Powering the ZR-V is a 2.0-litre hybrid system producing around 184hp, paired with an e-CVT and an all-wheel-drive setup. It can also run in pure electric mode for short distances, enhancing refinement and efficiency.

What 2026 Means for Honda India

With facelifts for its core models and premium CBU imports like the Prelude and ZR-V, Honda’s 2026 line-up aims to strengthen both its mass-market presence and brand image. While volumes will continue to come from the City and Elevate, the global imports will help Honda re-establish its performance and technology credentials in the Indian market.
