Toyota has introduced a new mild-hybrid version of the Fortuner in India, with prices starting at ₹44.72 lakh (ex-showroom). This version, branded as Neo Drive, aligns with Toyota’s existing mild-hybrid offerings like the Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The mild-hybrid technology is now also available in the Fortuner Legender variant, which is priced at ₹50.09 lakh. Bookings for these new variants are now open, with deliveries expected to commence in the third week of June.
Fortuner Mild Hybrid: Engine and Technology
The new Neo Drive versions of the Fortuner and Legender continue to be powered by the robust 2.8-litre diesel engine, producing 204hp and 500Nm of torque. However, it now comes paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This includes a belt-integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery pack, enabling features like auto start-stop, smoother low-speed performance, improved refinement, and better fuel efficiency.
Enhanced Features and Safety
While there are no significant design changes aside from a Neo Drive badge, Toyota has added a few new features to the hybrid variants. Key highlights include:
-
360-degree camera
-
7 airbags
-
Hill start and descent assist
-
Traction control
-
ISOFIX child seat mounts
The dual-tone leather interior continues unchanged, offering a premium cabin feel.
