Toyota has introduced a manual transmission option for the Fortuner Legender, but exclusively in the 4×4 variant. Priced at ₹46.36 lakh, this new version retains the same feature set and color options as its automatic counterpart.
Pricing and Competition
Here’s how the Fortuner Legender lineup is priced:
Variant | Price (₹ lakh) |
---|---|
4×2 AT | 44.11 |
4×4 MT | 46.36 |
4×4 AT | 48.09 |
The 4×4 MT undercuts the automatic variant by ₹1.73 lakh, making it the only model in its segment to offer both a 4×4 system and a manual gearbox. It competes with other large seven-seater diesel SUVs like the MG Gloster (₹39.57 lakh–44.03 lakh) and Jeep Meridian (₹24.99 lakh–38.79 lakh), though neither of them offers a 4×4 manual option.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the Legender 4×4 MT is equipped with the familiar 2.8-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. While it maintains the same 204hp power output as the automatic version, torque is slightly lower at 420Nm (compared to 500Nm in the AT). The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, with power delivered to all four wheels via Toyota’s 4×4 system.
Design, Features, and Colors
Toyota has kept the styling and equipment list unchanged for the manual variant. It continues to be available in a single Platinum White Pearl with Black Roof dual-tone exterior, featuring 18-inch alloy wheels. The cabin retains its black and maroon theme, complemented by premium features such as:
- Ambient lighting
- 11-speaker JBL audio system with subwoofer
- Ventilated front seats
- Hands-free tailgate operation
- 7 airbags
With this launch, Toyota has expanded the Fortuner Legender’s appeal, offering enthusiasts a more engaging driving experience without compromising on features or capability.
