Toyota has introduced a new version of its rugged seven-seat SUV, named the Fortuner Leader Edition. This variant is based on the diesel 4×2 variants of the Fortuner and includes several additional features and exterior modifications. Alongside this launch, Toyota also announced that it has sold over 2.5 lakh Fortuners in India since its debut in 2009.
Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: Price and Features
Toyota has not disclosed an official price for the Fortuner Leader Edition, indicating that pricing will vary at dealerships based on the specific accessories fitted. However, it is expected that prices for the Leader Edition will slightly exceed the standard Fortuner 4×2’s price range of Rs 35.93 lakh to Rs 38.21 lakh.
For the premium price, buyers will benefit from dual-tone seat covers, a tyre pressure monitor, auto-folding ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors), and a wireless charger. Externally, the Fortuner Leader Edition showcases new black alloy wheels and offers three dual-tone color options: Super White, Platinum Pearl White, and Silver Metallic, all featuring contrasting black accents. Notably, the Leader Edition is distinguished by new front and rear bumper ‘spoilers’, listed as official accessories and installed by the dealership.
Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: Powertrain
The Fortuner Leader Edition is exclusively available in 4×2 configuration, equipped with a 204hp, 2.8-liter diesel engine that produces 500Nm of torque when paired with the 6-speed automatic transmission, and 420Nm with the manual gearbox.
Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition: Rivals
The Fortuner remains competitive against rivals such as the MG Gloster, and will soon face renewed competition from its old adversary, the Ford Endeavour (likely to be named the Everest this time).
