Tata Sierra Near-Production Concept Unveiled at Auto Expo 2025

Tata Motors has unveiled the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of its Sierra concept SUV at the Auto Expo 2025, marking a significant step toward the production of this iconic model. The reborn Tata Sierra, which will include petrol, diesel, and all-electric variants, is set to hit the Indian market later this year.

Design Highlights of the Tata Sierra

The ICE variant of the Sierra closely mirrors its electric counterpart, with subtle differences like a redesigned grille and unique alloy wheels fitted with 195/65 R19 tyres. Retaining classic elements from the original Sierra, the SUV features the iconic curved rear-side windows, squared wheel arches, and a bold, high-set bonnet. Making a vibrant statement, the concept is showcased in a striking yellow hue, accented by contrasting black cladding.

Interior and Features

Inside, the near-production Sierra boasts a tech-forward cabin with three large displays: a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment system, and a dedicated passenger-side touchscreen – each likely measuring 12.3 inches. Key design elements include a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo and ambient lighting.

The SUV will reportedly offer 4- and 5-seat configurations, catering to different preferences. High-end variants are expected to feature a premium sound system (likely from Harman), a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety is prioritized with a suite that includes 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Engine and Performance Options

Built on Tata’s ATLAS platform, the Sierra will offer a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 170hp and 280Nm of torque, alongside a 2.0-litre diesel engine likely shared with the Harrier and Safari. The diesel unit is expected to deliver comparable figures of 170hp and 350Nm. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be available, and the addition of an all-wheel-drive (AWD) option could set the Sierra apart in its segment.

Tata Motors plans to launch the Sierra EV ahead of the petrol and diesel variants, with the latter arriving in the second half of 2025.

The return of the Sierra not only revives a beloved nameplate but also positions Tata Motors as a strong contender in the competitive SUV market with a versatile lineup catering to diverse customer needs.
