Tata Motors is gearing up to launch a major update for its popular compact SUV, the Nexon. The new model, which has been spotted testing on Indian roads previously, will feature significant cosmetic changes, major interior upgrades, and new equipment, including a new petrol engine under the hood.
Refreshed Tata Nexon Features a Radical New Look
Recent spy images of the updated Nexon reveal a completely overhauled design for the front and rear fascia. The new model will feature a two-part diamond-shaped grille with a full-width LED light bar sitting atop a taller and flatter nose. The main headlamp cluster will be positioned in the bumper below, with a deep indent below the light bar where the Tata logo will be housed.
The rear of the vehicle will feature completely new tail lamps with a much sharper and sleeker design and a connecting LED light bar element that is visible through the camouflage. The tailgate and rear bumper will also have cleaner surfacing than the current model, and the alloy wheels will be redesigned.
Interior and Equipment
Inside the cabin, Tata Motors is expected to introduce a completely reworked dashboard design, which will feature a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, similar to the one on the Harrier and Safari models. The Nexon facelift is also expected to include a new digital instrument cluster and other new features.
Powertrain Options
Under the hood, the Nexon facelift will feature a new-gen 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 125hp and 225Nm, an upgrade over the current model’s 120hp and 170Nm of torque. The 110hp, 1.5-liter diesel engine is expected to remain unchanged. The new model is likely to be available with both manual and AMT gearboxes.
