The upcoming facelifted Tata Nexon has generated a significant buzz online prior to its official launch, with numerous spy shots revealing notable updates to its cabin and exterior. One of the most prominent changes is the incorporation of advanced digital elements that enhance the overall driving experience.
Interior Highlights
- The facelifted Tata Nexon is set to rectify criticisms of its outdated dashboard design by introducing a host of technological upgrades.
- The centerpiece of the cabin is a sizable 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This screen is similar to the one found in the Harrier and Safari models, featuring a user-friendly interface. The primary distinction is in the color scheme.
- Beneath the infotainment system is the revamped climate control unit. Among the updates are two toggle switches for adjusting temperature and fan speed. Additionally, the controls have transitioned from clickable buttons to backlit haptic controls, adding a modern touch.
- A fully digital instrument cluster is now integrated into the driver’s display. This display mirrors the color scheme of the infotainment system, contributing to a cohesive and visually appealing interior.
- The steering wheel receives a subtle but elegant upgrade, with a backlit Tata logo at its center. The buttons on the steering spokes also feature this illuminated treatment, further enhancing the cabin’s aesthetic.
Exterior Enhancements
- The facelifted Nexon boasts an extensively revised exterior design. The front end features a sleeker profile with a fresh grille design, more defined LED DRLs, and vertically oriented headlights.
- While the side profile retains its familiar look, it gains new alloy wheels, which contribute to the vehicle’s updated appearance.
- The rear of the vehicle showcases connected tail lamps and a more muscular design, giving the Nexon a more dynamic and modern rear-end look.
Color Theme and Design
- Inside the cabin, the facelift introduces a new dashboard layout, slim air conditioning vents, and a distinctive purple cabin theme. This theme adds a sense of uniqueness to the interior space.
Powertrain Options
- The facelifted Nexon is expected to offer two engine choices. The first is a 1.5-liter diesel engine, producing 115PS and 260Nm of torque. This engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT.
- The second engine option is a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, generating 125PS and 225Nm of torque. This engine could come paired with a DCT automatic transmission, offering smoother gear shifts and improved efficiency. Both engines conform to the updated BS6 Phase 2 emission standards.
Features and Safety
- The revamped Nexon comes with a range of advanced features, including the aforementioned 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver’s display.
- Other carried-over features encompass a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, cruise control, and ventilated front seats.
- Safety features are anticipated to include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and a rear-view camera.
Launch and Rivals
- Tata is set to unveil the facelifted Nexon, alongside the updated Nexon EV, on September 14.
- The expected starting price for the facelifted Nexon is around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
- Upon launch, the Nexon will continue to compete with its rivals in the subcompact SUV segment, such as the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Mahindra XUV300.
