India’s automobile export sector saw its most successful year yet in FY2025, with 362,160 units of SUVs and MPVs shipped to global markets—a massive 54% increase over FY2024’s 234,720 units. This unprecedented growth was driven by surging global demand for compact and midsize utility vehicles manufactured in India.
Maruti Suzuki retained its top position as India’s leading vehicle exporter for the fourth consecutive fiscal, significantly boosting shipments of its utility vehicles. The Fronx, Jimny, and Honda Elevate emerged as the top three exported models for the year.
Top Exporters: Maruti, Honda, and Nissan Take the Lead
Maruti Suzuki more than doubled its UV exports, jumping from 77,927 units in FY2024 to 157,000 units in FY2025—a remarkable 101% increase. This strong performance was largely supported by global demand for the Fronx and Jimny, particularly in Japan.
Honda Cars India followed with 45,167 SUVs exported, a 329% year-on-year rise. Nissan secured third place on the back of robust Magnite exports, which rose by 213%.
