Renault Kwid E-Tech Facelift Revealed: More Features, Sharper Design, and ADAS Tech

Renault has officially unveiled the facelifted version of its entry-level electric hatchback, the Kwid E-Tech, in Brazil. Priced at the equivalent of Rs 12.7 lakh, this new iteration replaces the previous Kwid EV launched in 2022. With upgraded features, improved safety equipment, and a revamped design, the Kwid E-Tech now stands as Renault’s most affordable electric vehicle in the South American market.

Bolder, Cleaner Design with a Modern Edge

The updated Kwid E-Tech adopts Renault’s latest design philosophy, blending bold styling with compact proportions. The new front fascia sports sleek LED daytime running lights, a sculpted bonnet, and generous use of piano black and matte-finish trim. Rugged-looking bumpers and pronounced wheel-arch cladding continue to give the car its urban-crossover stance.

At 3,701mm long, 1,767mm wide, and 1,534mm tall, the EV offers a 2,423mm wheelbase and a 290-litre boot, making it more spacious than you’d expect from a city car of its size.

Interior: Functional Meets Futuristic

Inside, the Kwid E-Tech continues to balance practicality with modern updates. The upright dashboard layout remains simple, but the highlight is the addition of a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital driver display. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity come standard.

A new flat-bottom steering wheel and metallic accents around the air vents add a touch of sportiness. However, the cabin still carries some cost-conscious elements such as hard plastics and manual climate control knobs — understandable for an entry-level EV.

Safety: ADAS Comes to the Kwid

One of the biggest upgrades is in safety tech. The facelift introduces up to 11 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. Additionally, the hatchback now offers electronic stability control, hill-start assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a reversing camera — impressive for a car in this price bracket.

Performance and Range

Powering the Kwid E-Tech is a 48kW (65hp) electric motor paired with a 26.8kWh lithium-ion battery. Renault claims a range of up to 180km on Brazil’s INMETRO test cycle, and the EV can hit a top speed of 130kph. A 0–100kph sprint takes 14.6 seconds, underscoring its city-focused character.

Charging options include 7kW AC charging and 30kW DC fast charging, allowing users to top up the battery relatively quickly for everyday use.

India Launch Possibility

Although the Kwid EV’s combination of compact dimensions and affordability would appeal to Indian buyers, Renault has made no indication that the updated E-Tech will be brought here. For now, the model remains exclusive to select South American markets.
