Ola Electric has strengthened its electric scooter portfolio with the launch of the S1 X+ 5.2kWh, priced at an introductory Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This limited price is valid until April 15, after which a revision is expected. Positioned as the new flagship of the S1 X lineup, the model focuses on delivering higher range and improved performance.
Bigger battery, longer range focus
The highlight of the new variant is its 5.2kWh battery pack, making it the largest battery option in the S1 X range so far. Ola claims an IDC-certified range of 320km, placing it among the longest-range electric scooters currently on sale in India.
Powering the scooter is an 11kW mid-drive motor, paired with an integrated motor control unit. Ola states that this setup enables a top speed of 125kph, making it one of the quicker offerings in its segment.
In-house battery tech: Bharat Cell
A key technological update is the use of Ola’s 4680-format ‘Bharat Cell’, developed in-house and first showcased during the company’s 2025 community event. This move aligns with Ola’s strategy to vertically integrate battery production and vehicle development, aiming to improve efficiency, cost control and long-term scalability.
Hardware and safety features
The S1 X+ 5.2kWh comes equipped with:
- Brake-by-wire technology
- Front disc brake setup
- Single-channel ABS
- Improved energy management system for enhanced efficiency
These additions are aimed at improving both safety and ride dynamics, especially considering the higher performance capabilities.
Market positioning and rivals
With its aggressive pricing and large battery pack, the S1 X+ directly competes with models like the TVS iQube. The iQube’s top variant offers a slightly larger 5.3kWh battery, but its claimed range stands at around 212km, significantly lower than Ola’s figures. However, the TVS offering comes with a richer feature set and a higher price tag of approximately Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
Ola vs competition: shifting market dynamics
Despite expanding its portfolio, Ola Electric has seen fluctuations in its market position. Once dominating the segment with over 50 percent share in 2024, the company has experienced a decline in recent months. While it slipped in rankings earlier in 2026, it has since shown signs of recovery.
Meanwhile, the iQube continues to remain one of India’s most consistent performers in the electric two-wheeler space.
Final takeaway
The Ola S1 X+ 5.2kWh is clearly aimed at buyers prioritising maximum range at a relatively accessible price point. With its new battery technology, improved performance and competitive pricing, it strengthens Ola’s presence in the mid-to-premium electric scooter segment. However, real-world range, reliability and after-sales experience will remain key factors in determining its long-term success.
