Next-Gen Bajaj Chetak Launched at ₹1.2 Lakh

Bajaj Auto has unveiled the next-generation Chetak electric scooter, built on a new platform with added features. The lineup retains its three variants, though pricing has been disclosed only for the mid-range model at ₹1.20 lakh and the top-end variant at ₹1.27 lakh (ex-showroom).

Performance and Range

The updated Chetak features a redesigned frame accommodating a 3.5kWh battery located under the floorboard. This repositioning not only makes the battery 3kg lighter but also extends the scooter’s range to a claimed 153km on a single charge. It supports fast charging with a 950W charger, reaching 0-80% in just three hours.

Powering the scooter is a 4kW motor, delivering similar performance as its predecessor. The top two variants can achieve a maximum speed of 73kph, while the base 3503 model is capped at 63kph.

Upgraded Dimensions and Storage

A key improvement is the addition of a spacious 35-litre boot, thanks to the floor-mounted battery. This addresses one of the major drawbacks of the previous model. Additionally, the wheelbase has been extended by 25mm to 1,350mm, and the seat length has increased by 80mm, offering enhanced comfort and practicality.

Premium Features in Top Variant

The top-spec 3501 variant introduces several modern features, including:

  • TFT display with integrated maps
  • Bluetooth connectivity with screen mirroring
  • Document storage
  • Geo-fencing and theft alerts
  • Overspeeding notifications

Warranty and Competition

Bajaj offers a 3-year/50,000km warranty with the new Chetak. While pricing for the base variant remains under wraps, it will be launched soon. In the competitive electric scooter market, the Chetak squares off against rivals such as the TVS iQube, Ather Rizta, Ampere Nexus, and Ola S1 series.

The new Bajaj Chetak combines enhanced practicality, advanced features, and an extended range, making it a compelling option for urban commuters.
