New Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance to Launch in India on November 12

Mercedes-Benz India is set to launch the highly anticipated AMG C 63 S E Performance on November 12. The latest C 63 marks a significant shift by replacing its iconic V8 engine with an advanced plug-in hybrid setup. This new configuration combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a rear-mounted electric motor, delivering impressive performance while embracing modern electrification. The previous non-S C63 model has been discontinued, meaning only the AMG C 63 S E Performance variant will be available.

Mercedes-AMG C 63: Powertrain and Specs

The new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces a robust 475 hp, while the electric motor adds an additional 203 hp, bringing the combined power output to a remarkable 680 hp. To enhance response and minimize turbo lag, the turbocharger incorporates an electric motor, powered by the 400V electrical system—a technology inspired by Mercedes’ Formula 1 expertise. The powertrain is paired with a 9-speed multi-clutch automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive for optimal performance and control.

Additional highlights include a four-wheel steering system, which allows the rear wheels to turn up to 2.5 degrees opposite the front wheels (at speeds up to 100 km/h) and up to 0.7 degrees in the same direction at higher speeds. The 6.1 kWh battery enables the C 63 to travel up to 13 km on electric power alone, ideal for brief, emissions-free drives.

Mercedes-AMG C 63: Exterior and Interior Design

Externally, the AMG C 63 sports a distinctive look with front wheel arches widened by 76mm, complemented by 19-inch standard wheels and an optional upgrade to 20-inch wheels. It also features the iconic AMG grille with vertical slats and active shutters that adjust according to the engine’s cooling requirements. With updated bumpers, the C 63 measures 50mm longer than the regular C-Class, adding a more aggressive stance. Inside, the C 63 retains the luxurious layout of the standard C-Class, featuring a large touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster, accented by an AMG-specific steering wheel and a sleek all-black interior theme.

Mercedes-AMG C 63: Expected Price and Competitors

Positioned above the C 43 in Mercedes’ lineup (priced at Rs 98.25 lakh), the AMG C 63 S E Performance is expected to carry a price tag around Rs 1.3 crore to 1.4 crore (ex-showroom). It will directly compete with the Audi RS 5 in the Indian market, bringing an exciting new hybrid performance option for enthusiasts.

The AMG C 63 S E Performance promises a blend of innovation, electrified power, and traditional AMG craftsmanship, making it a highly anticipated launch for Indian luxury car buyers.
