Mini Aceman EV India Launch Expected in 2026: What to Expect from Mini’s Smallest Electric SUV

Mini is gearing up to expand its electric portfolio in India with the launch of the all-new Aceman EV, expected sometime in 2026. After an aggressive product rollout in 2025, the British marque is now setting its sights on introducing a more accessible electric offering, positioned below the Countryman Electric. For the Indian market, the Mini Aceman is likely to arrive as a completely built unit (CBU).

Globally, the Aceman sits between the electric Cooper and the Countryman EV, offering a balance of compact dimensions and added practicality. It is underpinned by an extended version of the platform used by the electric Cooper sold overseas.

What is the Mini Aceman?

First unveiled at the Beijing Motor Show in April 2024, the Aceman marked an important addition to Mini’s global line-up. Unlike other Mini models, it is offered exclusively with an electric powertrain. While it shares its roots with the Cooper hatchback, the Aceman has been developed as a more versatile, family-friendly option.

In terms of size, the Aceman measures 4,076mm in length, 1,754mm in width and 1,515mm in height, making it noticeably larger than the Cooper. Its wheelbase of 2,606mm is also longer, allowing Mini to add two extra doors. This makes the Aceman a more practical alternative to the three-door Cooper currently on sale in India, without pushing it into full-sized SUV territory like the Countryman.

Mini Aceman EV Battery, Range and Performance

Internationally, the Mini Aceman EV is available with two battery pack options. The entry-level variant uses a 38.5kWh battery paired with a single electric motor producing 184hp and 290Nm of torque, offering a claimed WLTP range of up to 309km.

The higher-spec version gets a larger 49.2kWh battery and a more powerful 218hp motor with 330Nm of torque, extending the claimed driving range to 405km. For enthusiasts, Mini also offers a performance-focused John Cooper Works (JCW) variant with the larger battery. This version delivers 258hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 6.4 seconds.

Design and Interior Highlights

The Aceman carries forward Mini’s familiar design language but with a sharper, more rugged edge. It features more angular headlamps, squared wheel arches and distinctive rectangular LED tail-lamps. Chunkier bumpers, protective body cladding and roof rails further differentiate it from the Cooper and give it a crossover-like stance.

Inside, the cabin follows the brand’s latest minimalist approach. The highlight is a large, centrally mounted OLED touchscreen that handles infotainment and vehicle functions, complemented by a clean dashboard layout and modern materials.

Manufacturing and India Launch Outlook

Currently, the Mini Aceman is produced in China for global markets. However, Mini is set to begin UK production from early 2026. It is yet to be confirmed which manufacturing source and variant specification will be chosen for India.

With its compact size, all-electric powertrain and distinctive styling, the Mini Aceman EV could serve as an appealing entry point into Mini’s electric range in India when it launches in 2026.
