MG has introduced the new Windsor in India with an introductory price starting at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Windsor marks MG’s first launch in India following its partnership with JSW earlier this year, and it’s the third electric vehicle in MG’s lineup after the ZS EV and the Comet. Bookings for the Windsor will open on October 3, with deliveries scheduled to begin on October 12.
Key Features:
- Range and Performance: The Windsor offers a claimed range of 331 km and is powered by a 38 kWh LFP battery. It features a 136 hp motor with 200 Nm of torque and supports fast charging at 45 kW, which charges the battery from 0 to 80% in 55 minutes. AC charging options include 3.3 kW and 7.7 kW chargers, which take approximately 14 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively, for a full charge.
- Battery Rental: In an innovative move, MG is offering the Windsor with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, where buyers can rent the battery separately. The rental fee is ₹3.5 per km driven, which reduces the initial cost of the vehicle and the per-kilometre expense.
- Trims and Colors: The Windsor is available in three trims—Excite, Exclusive, and Essence—and four colors: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.
Exterior Design:
The Windsor features a modern MPV design with a distinctive appearance that resembles a larger hatchback. Highlights include a minimalist design with flush door handles, clean surfaces, and full-width LED light bars at both ends. The vehicle sports a stepped front-end design with headlamps mounted on the bumper, a large glasshouse with extended quarter glass sections, and 18-inch alloy wheels with a 5-spoke design.
Interior and Features:
Inside, the Windsor continues the minimalist theme with a black and copper interior. It boasts a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, and “aero lounge seats” with a 135-degree recline. The flat floor and floating center console enhance the spacious feel. Notable features include physical HVAC controls, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, a panoramic glass roof, and ambient lighting.
Safety:
The Windsor comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, all-disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, ESC, and a 360-degree camera for comprehensive safety.
Warranty and Charging:
MG is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery with unlimited kilometers for the first buyers. Additionally, the company is providing free public charging for the first year.
With its innovative battery rental model and a comprehensive suite of features, the MG Windsor is set to make a notable entry into the electric vehicle market.
