Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV Launched in India at ₹2.25 Crore

Mercedes-Benz India has introduced the ultra-luxurious Maybach EQS electric SUV at ₹2.25 crore (ex-showroom), marking its debut as the first-ever electric model under the prestigious Maybach badge. This opulent SUV is now the second most expensive electric SUV in the Indian market, following the Lotus Eletre. Distinct from the standard EQS SUV, the Maybach variant boasts exclusive design elements, advanced features, and cutting-edge technology upgrades.

Design and Interior: A Blend of Luxury and Innovation

The Maybach EQS SUV shares its dimensions with the standard EQS SUV but elevates its presence with signature Maybach styling cues. The prominent black grille panel is adorned with vertical chrome-plated strips, forming the signature Maybach waterfall grille. Made of indium, the panel allows radar beams to pass through seamlessly, eliminating the need for a separate radar panel. The iconic three-pointed star is proudly placed atop the bonnet, and buyers can opt for the striking Maybach dual-tone paint scheme.

Inside, the Maybach EQS SUV mirrors the EQS SUV’s layout but includes unique Maybach start-up sequences on the triple-screen display. Rear passengers are treated to two 11.6-inch displays mounted on the back of the front seats, complemented by an MBUX tablet that can be used outside the vehicle as well.

Two optional packages enhance the rear-seat experience: the Chauffeur package, which elevates seating comfort, and the First-Class Rear package, featuring thermal cup holders, a shelf for the MBUX rear tablet, four USB-C ports, and two HDMI interfaces. Additional luxuries include optional folding tables, a cooling compartment, and silver-plated champagne goblets.

Performance, Powertrain, and Range

In India, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is offered exclusively in the 680 trim, powered by a dual electric motor setup that delivers 658hp and 950Nm of torque. This powerhouse sends power to all four wheels via 4Matic AWD technology. The EQS 680 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. It boasts a WLTP-certified range of up to 611km on a single charge.

Charging is efficient, with a 200kW DC fast charger that can replenish the 122kWh battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 31 minutes, while a 20-minute charge provides up to 300km of range. With no direct competitors in the Indian market, the Maybach EQS SUV stands as a luxurious alternative, rivaling the Lotus Eletre in terms of pricing.
