Mercedes-Benz India to Launch 6+ New Electric Cars in Next Two Years, Expands EV Strategy

Mercedes-Benz India to Launch 6+ New Electric Cars

Mercedes-Benz India is set to accelerate its electric vehicle plans with the launch of more than six new EVs over the next 18 to 24 months. The move signals a major expansion of the brand’s luxury EV presence in India, with upcoming launches expected across multiple vehicle segments.

The rollout has already started with the debut of the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric, which will become the entry-level model in the company’s next-generation electric range.

Mercedes-Benz Strengthens EV Portfolio in India

Unlike its earlier EV approach that focused mainly on premium, high-priced models, Mercedes-Benz is now preparing a broader lineup aimed at attracting more luxury buyers. The company plans to introduce electric vehicles in nearly every core segment, including sedans and SUVs.

Senior company leadership stated that future EV offerings will span from compact luxury cars to flagship models, giving customers more electric choices than ever before.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric Leads the New EV Wave

The newly launched CLA Electric is built on Mercedes-Benz’s advanced MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform. It features an 800-volt electrical system and the brand’s latest MB.OS software platform, making it one of the most technologically advanced upcoming EVs in the market.

The CLA Electric is expected to play a key role in making the Mercedes EV lineup more accessible to buyers entering the premium electric segment.

Upcoming Mercedes-Benz EVs: Mercedes-Benz GLC EV and Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV

Among the most anticipated launches are the GLC EV and C-Class EV.

These models are expected to become volume drivers for Mercedes-Benz’s EV business in India.

More Electric Launches Planned for 2026

Mercedes-Benz has also confirmed at least two additional EV launches in 2026, though exact model details have not yet been announced. This suggests the company is planning a long-term product offensive in the Indian luxury EV market.

Petrol and Diesel Models to Continue

Despite its aggressive EV expansion, Mercedes-Benz has clarified that petrol and diesel vehicles will remain an important part of its India portfolio. Diesel-powered SUVs, in particular, continue to see healthy demand among luxury buyers.

The company believes customers should have the freedom to choose between electric, petrol, and diesel powertrains based on ownership cost, convenience, and lifestyle needs.

Luxury EV Market in India Still Evolving

Electric vehicles in the luxury segment are currently often purchased as second or additional cars rather than primary family vehicles. Factors such as pricing, charging infrastructure, incentives, and resale value continue to influence buying decisions.

With multiple new launches planned, Mercedes-Benz aims to strengthen EV adoption and establish itself as a leader in India’s premium electric car market.
