KTM has refreshed its Adventure lineup for 2025, offering two compelling variants based on its 399cc platform – the 390 Adventure and the 390 Adventure X. While they may appear nearly identical at first glance, a closer inspection reveals clear differences that cater to distinct rider preferences. Whether you’re seeking off-road domination or balanced versatility, here’s a breakdown of how these two Adventure siblings compare.

Wheels & Tyres: Off-Road vs On-Road Bias

One of the most defining differences between the two variants lies in the wheel setup. The KTM 390 Adventure is designed with serious off-road intent, featuring tubeless spoke wheels – a 21-inch unit at the front and a 17-inch rear. This setup offers improved durability and better shock absorption on rugged terrain.

In contrast, the 390 Adventure X uses alloy wheels paired with tubeless tyres, sized at 19 inches in the front and 17 inches at the rear. While this makes it more road-friendly and slightly better suited for touring or commuting, it also reduces its effectiveness over challenging trails due to the smaller front wheel and less forgiving construction.

Suspension & Ergonomics: Adjustability Matters

Both bikes share similar hardware, including the 399cc single-cylinder engine and braking system. Suspension travel also remains identical at 200mm up front, making both capable of handling rough patches with confidence.
