Kia India Updates MY2025 Lineup: Diesel-iMT Dropped for Sonet, Seltos, and Carens

Kia India has discontinued the diesel-iMT powertrain option across the Sonet, Seltos, and Carens models. While this change affects the diesel variants, the iMT gearbox remains available for their turbo-petrol counterparts. Alongside this update, Kia has reorganized the variant line-ups for these models as part of the MY2025 refresh. Here’s a closer look at the changes.

Kia Sonet Updates

The MY2025 Sonet lineup no longer includes the diesel-iMT in the HTX and HTX+ trims. The HTX+ trim has been entirely removed, replaced by a new HTK+(O) variant positioned between the existing HTK(O) and HTX trims. This new trim offers the 1.2-litre petrol-MT and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol-iMT powertrain options. Additionally, Kia has discontinued the Gravity Edition models from the Sonet range.
Prices for the updated Sonet now range from ₹8.00 lakh to ₹15.70 lakh.

Kia Seltos Updates

In the Seltos lineup, the diesel-iMT option has been eliminated from the mid-spec HTX trim. The Gravity Edition has also been discontinued. To compensate, Kia has introduced three new trims—HTK(O), HTK+(O), and HTX(O)—with revised features across the range.
The GT Line now consolidates into a single fully-loaded GTX+ trim, simplifying the variant structure. Prices for the Seltos currently range from ₹11.13 lakh to ₹20.51 lakh.

Kia Carens Updates

The Carens lineup sees the removal of the diesel-iMT powertrain and the discontinuation of the Luxury trim, which was previously available in six- and seven-seater configurations. The petrol-iMT powertrain is now offered in fewer variants, while the diesel-AT is restricted to the Prestige Plus(O) trim.
For the X-Line, the diesel-AT variant has been dropped, leaving only the turbo-petrol-DCT option. Unlike the Sonet and Seltos, the Gravity Edition remains part of the Carens lineup. Prices for the Carens range from ₹10.60 lakh to ₹19.70 lakh.

These changes reflect Kia’s focus on streamlining their product offerings while catering to shifting market preferences.
