Kawasaki is gearing up to introduce the Ninja 1100SX in India, a highly anticipated successor to the much-loved Ninja 1000SX. Known for its seamless blend of sporty aesthetics, refined power delivery, and comfortable ergonomics, the Ninja 1000SX has been a popular choice for Indian riders. Its successor promises to build on this legacy with notable upgrades and enhancements.
Engine and Performance Upgrades
The most significant change in the Ninja 1100SX is its larger 1099cc engine, replacing the previous 1043cc motor. This increase in displacement is achieved by extending the stroke to 77mm x 59mm from the earlier 77mm x 56mm. Despite the bigger engine, peak power sees a slight drop to 136hp (4hp less), while torque improves by 2Nm, reaching 113Nm. The lowered rev range for peak power and torque aims to deliver smoother, more accessible performance, making it an even better machine for touring.
To complement the enhanced engine, Kawasaki has adjusted the 5th and 6th gear ratios for more relaxed cruising during long-distance rides. Additionally, the bi-directional quickshifter has been refined for better low-RPM functionality, while fuel efficiency has reportedly been improved.
Refreshed Tyres and Features
The Ninja 1100SX now features the Bridgestone S23 tyres, offering an upgrade over the S22 compound used on the previous model. While the bike retains its signature design and comprehensive electronic aids—including riding and power modes, traction control, ABS, a bi-directional quickshifter, and electronic cruise control—it also introduces a new USB Type-C charging port conveniently mounted on the handlebar.
Pricing and Availability
The Ninja 1100SX is expected to arrive with a price increase of ₹75,000 to ₹1,00,000 over the outgoing model, which was last listed at ₹12.19 lakh (ex-showroom). For now, only the standard variant will be available in India, with no plans for the higher-spec SE version featuring Brembo M4.32 brakes and an Öhlins rear suspension.
With these updates, the Ninja 1100SX aims to continue Kawasaki’s tradition of delivering powerful, versatile sport-touring motorcycles tailored for Indian roads. The official launch is set to take place within the next two weeks.
