India’s motorsport landscape is set for a major boost with the launch of the Indian Superbike League (ISL) in October 2025. Designed to provide a structured platform for Indian riders, the league aims to nurture talent and prepare racers for the international stage.
Key Highlights:
✅ Five racing classes catering to professionals and amateurs
✅ Races on permanent circuits to ensure high safety and performance standards
✅ Ducati confirmed as a bike supplier, with talks underway with Indian manufacturers
League Format & Rider Selection
The inaugural season will feature seven franchise-based teams, each comprising five riders across different categories—Pro, Amateur, Female Riders, and Rookies.
The ISL has already opened online rider registrations, with 400 riders signed up so far. Selection will be carried out in collaboration with established riding academies, leveraging their expertise in identifying and training emerging talent.
Initially, the league will have an all-Indian rider lineup. However, international racers and technical experts will be brought in for coaching, aiming to uplift the entire ecosystem, including technicians and crew members.
“There is immense passion for two-wheelers across India, particularly in tier-II and tier-III cities. The ISL will create a sustainable career pathway not just for racers, but for the entire motorcycle racing ecosystem,” said Sirish Vissa, Director of the Indian Superbike League.
The league also emphasizes diversity and inclusivity, aiming to support marginalized talent and elevate the technical standards of Indian motorsports.
Race Calendar & Venues
The debut season will feature three rounds at permanent racetracks in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Pune. While the exact venues are yet to be confirmed, the Madras International Circuit is a strong contender to host the opening round.
As the ISL takes shape, it promises to be a game-changer for Indian motorsports, offering local riders a launchpad to compete at the highest levels.
