Honda Expands Recall: Over 90,000 Vehicles Affected by Fuel Pump Issue

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has announced an expansion of its previous recall initiative to replace faulty fuel pumps in several popular models. This new recall affects 90,468 vehicles, including the Amaze compact sedan, Brio hatchback, BR-V MPV, City midsize sedan, Jazz premium hatchback, and WR-V high-riding hatchback. These vehicles were manufactured between September 2017 and June 2018.

The current recall also includes an additional 2,204 units across several models, including the Accord, Civic, and City, where fuel pumps with potentially defective impellers were installed as spare parts. This issue could cause the engine to stall over time, compromising normal vehicle operation.

The latest campaign follows a similar recall in June 2020, which impacted 65,651 units for the same fuel pump issue. Affected models in this recall include:

Model Units
City 32,872
Amaze 18,851
Jazz 16,744
WR-V 14,298
BR-V 4,386
Brio 3,317
Total 90,468

Honda owners can confirm if their vehicle is part of the recall by entering their 17-character VIN on HCIL’s official website. Those who had replacement fuel pumps installed at an authorized dealership from June 2017 to October 2023 can also check their vehicle status.

The replacements will be offered at no cost to customers at Honda’s authorized dealerships across India, beginning on November 5, with affected vehicle owners being contacted individually by Honda.
