Honda has officially launched the CB1000 Hornet SP in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹12.36 lakh (Gurugram). This marks the fourth major launch under Honda’s premium BigWing umbrella in just one week.
Performance and Mechanical Highlights
Positioned as a litre-class naked bike, the CB1000 Hornet SP packs a 999cc inline-four, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 157 hp at 11,000 rpm and 107 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed transmission and comes equipped with a bi-directional quickshifter as standard.
In terms of hardware, the motorcycle features a fully adjustable Showa upside-down front fork and an Ohlins monoshock at the rear, also fully adjustable. Braking duties are handled by dual 310mm discs at the front with radially mounted Brembo Stylema calipers and a 240mm rear disc.
Features and Technology
The CB1000 Hornet SP boasts a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity that supports music control, turn-by-turn navigation, and call alerts. The rider gets access to five riding modes—Sport, Standard, Rain, and two customisable options—along with three levels of traction control for enhanced safety.
Pricing and Rivals
At ₹12.36 lakh, the CB1000 Hornet SP is positioned above the CB750 Hornet by ₹3.86 lakh. It competes closely with the Suzuki Katana (₹13.61 lakh) and offers a more affordable alternative to the Ducati Monster SP (₹15.95 lakh). Interestingly, its price also overlaps with that of middleweight naked bikes like the Triumph Street Triple RS, which ranges between ₹11.81 lakh and ₹12.07 lakh.
The CB1000 Hornet SP will be available exclusively through Honda’s BigWing Topline dealerships, with deliveries expected to begin in June.
