Model-wise Analysis:
1. Tata Nexon
Tata Nexon maintained its lead in the sales chart with nearly 14,000 units sold in June 2023. Despite a 4 percent MoM drop, it remains a dominant force in the segment. It is worth noting that these numbers include sales of both Nexon EV Max and Nexon EV Prime. Tata is already working on a 2024 Nexon facelift, as evidenced by spy shots circulating on the internet.
2. Hyundai Venue
Experiencing the highest MoM growth of over 13 percent, the Hyundai Venue climbed to the second position in the sales chart. Hyundai sold over 11,500 units of the Venue, capturing over a fifth of the segment’s market share.
3. Maruti Brezza
Maruti Brezza suffered the highest MoM loss of over 21 percent, slipping to the third position in the sales chart. Despite this decline, it still managed to cross the 10,000-unit sales mark. However, its sales in June 2023 were over 3,000 units less than its average sales over the last six months.
4. Kia Sonet Diesel
Kia Sonet continued to hold the fourth spot in the monthly sales tally for the segment, with over 7,500 units sold in June 2023. It experienced a minor MoM loss of nearly 6.5 percent.
5. Mahindra XUV300
Demand for the Mahindra XUV300 remained stable with over 5,000 units sold in June 2023. A facelift for the XUV300 is in the works, and test mules for the updated model have been spotted multiple times.
6. Nissan Magnite
With a slight decline of around 2.5 percent, Nissan Magnite’s sales remained stable in June 2023. Nissan also introduced a new “Geza” special edition of the Magnite based on the base-spec trim of the subcompact SUV at the end of May.
7. Renault Kiger
The Renault Kiger continues to be the lowest-selling subcompact SUV in June 2023, despite experiencing MoM growth of over 7.5 percent. Its sales in June have not even crossed the 2,000-unit mark.
