Citroen Basalt, Aircross, and C3 Dark Editions Launching on April 10: What to Expect

Citroen Basalt, Aircross, and C3 Dark Editions Launching on April 10

Citroen is set to announce the prices for its new Dark Edition lineup—featuring the Basalt, C3, and Aircross—on April 10. Ahead of the reveal, the brand has teased the updated interiors, offering a sneak peek at the enhancements made for this special edition range.

Dark Edition Highlights: Sleek Inside and Out

All three models will adopt a bold, all-black exterior finish complemented by dark chrome accents on the grille and badging. While the stylish dual-tone alloy wheels and silver bumper inserts will remain unchanged, the new paint job adds a much stealthier character to the cars.

Inside, the Dark Editions will feature new black leatherette upholstery, finished with contrast red stitching and subtle grey inserts for added visual appeal. The Aircross and Basalt dashboards will receive a premium upgrade, now wrapped in black leatherette with red stitching—marking a step up from the plastic dashboards currently seen in Citroen’s India lineup. Additional features include illuminated sill plates and ambient footwell lighting to enhance the cabin experience.

Powertrain and Variants

Mechanically, the Dark Editions will remain unchanged. All three models will continue to offer the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 82hp and the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit that puts out 110hp. The turbo variants, which come with an optional automatic transmission, are expected to form the base for these Dark Edition trims.

Expect a price bump of ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 over the equivalent standard turbo variants, reflecting the cosmetic enhancements and added features.

Growing Trend: Dark Editions on the Rise

Citroen’s entry into the Dark Edition space comes as no surprise, with more brands joining the trend. Rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier and Safari, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and Mahindra Scorpio N already offer similar versions. Even non-SUVs like the Toyota Hilux and MG Comet have received dark-themed variants. The Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition was among the most recent launches, and Tata’s upcoming Curvv is also expected to follow suit.]
