BMW Z4 Final Edition Unveiled: Marks the End of the Iconic Convertible

BMW has officially announced the Z4 Final Edition, a special farewell model that brings production of the brand’s long-running two-seat roadster to an end. The commemorative edition offers exclusive styling enhancements and subtle interior updates, though no mechanical changes. BMW has also confirmed that no immediate successor is planned for the Z4, making this Final Edition a significant milestone for enthusiasts.

What’s New in the BMW Z4 Final Edition?

Design and Exterior Updates

While the overall design remains identical to the standard Z4, the Final Edition stands out thanks to its distinct ‘Frozen Matt Black’ exterior finish. The stealthy paint is complemented by gloss-red M Sport brake calipers and Final Edition-branded scuff plates on the door sills, adding a bespoke touch befitting the model’s farewell status.

Interior Enhancements

The cabin layout is unchanged, but BMW has added unique contrast elements to elevate the Final Edition’s appeal. Key updates include:

  • Red contrast stitching across the dashboard, seats and trims

  • M Sport seats with leather or Alcantara options

  • Alcantara-wrapped M steering wheel with matching red stitching

These enhancements give the interior a sportier and more premium character compared to the standard Z4.

Powertrain and Performance

The Z4 Final Edition remains mechanically identical to the regular model.

Global Engine Options

  • sDrive20i: 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 197hp, 320Nm

  • sDrive30i: 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 258hp, 400Nm

  • M40i: 3.0-litre inline-six turbo-petrol, 340hp, 500Nm

All engine variants use an 8-speed automatic, while the top-spec M40i additionally offers a 6-speed manual transmission in select markets.

BMW Z4 India Line-up

In India, BMW currently sells only the M40i variant, priced at:

  • ₹87.9 lakh (ex-showroom) — M40i

  • ₹92.6 lakh (ex-showroom) — M40i Pure Impulse Edition (manual)

The company has not yet confirmed whether the Final Edition will be introduced in the Indian market.
