BMW R 1300 GS Launched in India at Rs 20.95 Lakh

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the latest iteration of its flagship adventure motorcycle, the BMW R 1300 GS, in India. Priced at Rs 20.95 lakh, the new model comes with several upgrades over its predecessor, the R 1250 GS, which was priced Rs 40,000 lower. With improved performance, reduced weight, and a host of new features, the R 1300 GS is set to enhance the riding experience for adventure enthusiasts.

Enhanced Engine and Performance

The BMW R 1300 GS is powered by a robust 1,300cc, twin-cylinder engine with a 13.3:1 compression ratio, an upgrade from the previous model’s 1,254cc engine. This new engine delivers an impressive 145 hp at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, compared to the outgoing model’s 134 hp and 143 Nm. Despite its increased power, the R 1300 GS manages to shed 12 kg from its weight, now tipping the scales at 237 kg with a full 19-litre fuel tank, which is one litre less than the previous version.

Standard Features and Packages

In the Indian market, all BMW R 1300 GS variants come equipped with cross-spoked tubeless wheels. Standard features include the Comfort and Dynamic packages, offering amenities such as an electronic windscreen, bidirectional quickshifter, centre stand, and Pro riding modes.

All variants, except the base Light White, come with the Touring package as standard. This package includes pannier mounts, chromed exhaust header pipes, adaptive headlight, knuckle-guard extenders, and GPS mounting. The Triple Black variant is unique in being the only model available with the optional Adaptive Ride Height feature.

Top Model Features

The top-tier Option 719 Tramuntana variant stands out with radar-assisted safety features like Active Cruise Control and Front Collision Warning. This variant also boasts an eye-catching Green/Yellow paint scheme, various milled metal components, and other exclusive features. However, it currently does not offer the Adaptive Ride Height feature.

Competitive Pricing

At Rs 20.95 lakh, the BMW R 1300 GS is competitively priced, offering a more affordable option compared to its rivals like the Ducati Multistrada V4 (Rs 21.48 lakh–31.48 lakh) and the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special (Rs 24.64 lakh). The Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro is priced slightly lower at Rs 19.19 lakh. Deliveries for the new BMW R 1300 GS are scheduled to begin this month.
