BMW M4 CS Set to Launch in India on October 4

BMW India has confirmed that the highly anticipated BMW M4 CS, a more track-focused version of its performance sedan, will make its debut in India on October 4. Positioned above the M4 Competition, which is priced at ₹1.53 crore, the M4 CS brings a host of mechanical enhancements aimed at boosting performance and driving dynamics.

Powertrain: Enhanced Performance for the Track

The BMW M4 CS features an upgraded version of the standard M4’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six engine, which was previously seen in the limited-edition M4 CSL. The CS generates 20 horsepower more than the M4 Competition, producing an impressive 550hp, thanks to increased turbo boost pressure from 1.7 bar to 2.1 bar. Although the torque figure remains at 650Nm, the CS sustains peak torque over a wider rev range, from 2,750rpm to 5,950rpm, providing stronger performance at higher speeds.

BMW has made several upgrades to ensure the engine can withstand extended track use, including an improved cooling system and enhanced oil supply to the clutch, which helps maintain optimal performance for the all-wheel-drive system. Additionally, bespoke stiffer engine mounts improve responsiveness. As a result, the M4 CS sprints from 0 to 100kph in just 3.4 seconds—0.1 seconds quicker than the M4 Competition.

Chassis: Lighter and More Agile

Weighing 20kg less than the standard M4 Competition, the CS benefits from lightweight materials such as a titanium exhaust silencer and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) components, including the center console, gearshift paddles, and various interior trims. The chassis has been retuned with stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, improving steering precision and reducing body roll through tight corners. The stability-control system has also been recalibrated to allow for greater freedom before intervening during slides.

The CS rides on staggered lightweight wheels borrowed from the previous M3 CS, featuring 19-inch alloys at the front and 20-inch alloys at the rear. These wheels come equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires as standard, with the option to upgrade to even more track-focused Michelin Cup 2 R tires at no additional cost.

Design: Distinctive and Race-Inspired

Visually, the BMW M4 CS distinguishes itself from the Competition model with race-inspired yellow-tinted daytime running lights, reminiscent of BMW’s GT race cars. The iconic kidney grille also gets a striking red outline, adding to its aggressive and sporty look.

With these upgrades, the BMW M4 CS is set to offer a thrilling combination of speed, agility, and track-ready performance when it launches in India next month.
