BMW India has unveiled the all-electric iX1 LWB (Long Wheelbase) at the Auto Expo 2025. Priced at ₹49 lakh (ex-showroom) during the introductory phase, the X1 Long Wheelbase All Electric eDrive20L M Sport is the first locally manufactured electric vehicle from BMW India. This launch also marks India as the first market globally to receive the long-wheelbase version of the iX1, distinct from markets like China, which only have the standard long-wheelbase X1.
Performance and Range
The iX1 LWB is equipped with a 66.4kWh battery pack that offers a MIDC-certified range of 531 km. It features a front-mounted electric motor producing 204hp and 250Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 8.6 seconds. For charging, the battery supports DC fast charging at up to 130kW.
Dimensions and Design
The long-wheelbase version adds 112mm to the standard X1’s wheelbase, extending it to 2,800mm, with an overall length of 4,616mm. While maintaining the same width as the standard model, the iX1 LWB boasts sportier aesthetics with its M Sport styling, including aggressive bumpers, 18-inch M alloy wheels, and sleek adaptive LED headlights. Other notable design elements include a mesh-pattern kidney grille and 3D LED tail lights. Customers can choose from five metallic colors: Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, M Carbon Black, M Portimao Blue, and Sparkling Copper Grey.
Interior Features and Technology
The cabin of the iX1 LWB features BMW’s signature driver-focused design, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system housed within the ‘Widescreen Curved Display.’ Key interior highlights include:
- Comfort and Convenience: Reclining rear seats with a 28.5-degree range and 40:20:40 split-folding functionality.
- Premium Features: Panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and Veganza leatherette upholstery.
- Audio System: A 12-speaker, 205W Harman Kardon system for immersive sound.
Safety and Assistance
Safety is prioritized with an advanced Level 2 ADAS suite, eight airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, park assist, and an electronic parking brake.
