2025 Tata Sierra Launching on November 25: New Design, Powerful TGDI Engine, and EV Version Coming Soon

Tata Motors is all set to reintroduce the iconic Sierra SUV in India on November 25, 2025. Reviving one of its most beloved nameplates, the new-generation Sierra will sit between the Tata Curvv and Harrier in the brand’s SUV lineup. Once launched, it will take on popular midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Honda Elevate.

While the ICE (internal combustion engine) version will arrive first, an all-electric Sierra EV is expected to follow soon after. Prices for the petrol and diesel versions are likely to start around ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom).

2025 Tata Sierra Powertrain Options

Petrol | Diesel | Electric

Tata Motors will offer the Sierra with a wide range of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, and electric options. The highlight will be the debut of Tata’s new 1.5-litre turbocharged TGDI petrol engine, first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. This direct-injection motor is expected to deliver strong performance and efficiency.

Entry-level trims may use a naturally aspirated version of the same 1.5-litre unit, while the Curvv’s 1.5-litre diesel engine could also find its way under the Sierra’s hood for customers seeking better fuel economy.

The Sierra EV will join the lineup later, built on Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture, with an expected range of over 500km per charge. It will compete with electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE.6.

2025 Tata Sierra Design Highlights

Retro-inspired looks with modern flair

The new Sierra blends classic charm with a futuristic design language. Inspired by the original 1991 Sierra, it retains hallmark features such as the curved rear glass panels and boxy proportions, while gaining a more muscular stance and sleeker details.

Key exterior highlights include:

  • 19-inch alloy wheels (up from the original’s 15-inch units)

  • Connected LED DRLs and split headlamps

  • Chunky wheel arches and a tall, upright bonnet

  • Shorter front and rear overhangs for a sportier profile

The result is a modern, premium SUV that pays homage to its heritage while fitting right into Tata’s contemporary design direction.

Interior, Tech and Features

Three displays, premium materials, and advanced safety

The new Sierra’s cabin will be packed with features and technology. Tata is expected to introduce a three-screen dashboard setup, similar to what’s seen on the Mahindra XUV 9e. The layout will include:

  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster

  • 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen

  • 12.3-inch passenger-side display

Other expected features include:

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Dual-tone dashboard with ambient lighting

  • 4-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo

  • Ventilated front seats and wireless charger

  • Connected car technology and premium audio system

On the safety front, the Sierra will likely offer:

  • Six airbags

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • 360-degree camera

  • Level 2 ADAS driver assistance suite

Like other recent Tata SUVs, a high Global NCAP safety rating can be expected.

Sierra Revival: A Modern Take on a Legend

The Tata Sierra originally debuted in 1991, becoming India’s first indigenously designed SUV. It was admired for its distinctive three-door design and rugged charm. Now, more than three decades later, Tata Motors is bringing it back as a modern, feature-rich, family-friendly SUV that stays true to its roots while embracing cutting-edge technology.
