Volvo XC40 Recharge Rebranded as EX40, Priced at ₹56.10 Lakh

Volvo XC40 Recharge Rebranded as EX40

Volvo India has introduced a new name for its electric SUV, rebranding the XC40 Recharge as the EX40. This updated nomenclature aligns with Volvo’s global strategy to streamline its electric vehicle lineup, which includes models like the EX30 and EX90. Similarly, the coupe-SUV C40 Recharge is expected to adopt the name EC40 in the near future.

The Volvo EX40 is priced at ₹56.10 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting a slight increase from the XC40 Recharge’s price of ₹54.95 lakh.

What’s New in the Volvo EX40?

Mechanically, the EX40 remains identical to its predecessor, featuring a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive setup powered by a 69kWh battery. This configuration delivers 238hp and 420Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 475km (WLTP cycle).

In terms of features, the EX40 introduces some upgrades, including Pixel LED headlamps, a 360-degree camera, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system—features not available in the single-motor version of the XC40 Recharge. It also includes dual-zone climate control, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch infotainment screen, park assist, 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, and power-adjustable front seats.

XC40 Recharge Still Available with Discounts

Despite the launch of the EX40, Volvo India continues to sell the remaining stock of the XC40 Recharge. Buyers can avail of discounts of up to ₹5.05 lakh on this model, which is now only available in its single-motor version, as all twin-motor variants have been sold.

Meanwhile, the coupe-SUV C40 Recharge remains available in its high-performance twin-motor configuration, boasting 408hp and a larger 78kWh battery. It is currently listed with discounts of up to ₹1.05 lakh.
