Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Engine & Performance
India-Spec Powertrain Yet to Be Announced
Globally, the new Tiguan is available with multiple mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel options. In the UK, the lineup includes:
- 1.5L mild-hybrid petrol (150hp)
- 1.5L plug-in hybrid (204hp)
- 2.0L petrol (265hp) with 4Motion AWD
- 2.0L diesel (150hp) with 4Motion AWD
All engines are paired with 6-speed or 7-speed DCT automatic transmissions.
Volkswagen India has yet to confirm the engine options for the Tiguan R-Line, but given its premium positioning, the 265hp, 2.0L turbo-petrol with AWD is a strong possibility. For comparison, the current Tiguan in India is powered by a 190hp, 2.0L turbo-petrol with AWD and a 7-speed DCT.
Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line: Expected Price in India
The current Volkswagen Tiguan is priced at ₹38.17 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Given that the next-gen model will be a fully imported, high-spec variant, expect a notable price increase over the outgoing version.
Final Thoughts
With its sporty styling, feature-rich cabin, and powerful engine options, the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is set to make a bold statement in India’s premium SUV segment. Stay tuned for more details on pricing and specifications as the launch approaches.
