Lexus India is gearing up for an important year in 2026, with two major launches likely to expand its premium portfolio. The Japanese luxury brand is expected to introduce the next-generation Lexus ES sedan and, for the first time, the Lexus GX luxury SUV in the Indian market. Both models are anticipated to arrive in the second half of 2026, strengthening Lexus’ presence across sedan and SUV segments.
2026 Lexus ES: Next-Generation Luxury Hybrid Sedan
Expected launch: H2 2026
Estimated price: Rs 70 lakh – Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom)
Powertrain: 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid
The Lexus ES has been a cornerstone of the brand’s India lineup since its launch in 2018 and currently accounts for nearly half of Lexus’ total sales in the country. With the current-generation model nearing the end of its lifecycle, Lexus is expected to bring the all-new ES to India in 2026.
Globally unveiled earlier this year, the new ES is underpinned by an updated platform and will be offered with two 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain options. The ES 300h produces 201hp, while the more powerful ES 350h delivers 247hp. Both versions use an eCVT automatic transmission, prioritising smooth performance and fuel efficiency.
Design-wise, the next-gen ES takes inspiration from the LF-ZC concept, featuring sharper styling, improved aerodynamics and a more modern road presence. Inside, the cabin sees a major upgrade with a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and enhanced materials for a more premium feel.
While Lexus will offer an electric ES globally, it remains unclear whether the EV version will be introduced in India. The hybrid variants, however, are expected to be the main focus for the Indian market.
2026 Lexus GX: Luxury Off-Road SUV Likely for India
Expected launch: H2 2026
Estimated price: Rs 1.5 crore – Rs 2 crore (ex-showroom)
Engine: 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol
Another significant potential launch for Lexus India is the Lexus GX luxury SUV, which could finally make its Indian debut in 2026. Importantly, the new GX is being developed for right-hand-drive markets such as Australia and Japan, opening the door for an India launch.
The GX is built on Toyota’s TNGA-F ladder-frame platform, shared with the Land Cruiser Prado, and is designed to combine serious off-road capability with luxury. It features a boxy, upright SUV design, clearly differentiating it from Lexus’ softer road-focused SUVs.
Under the hood, the GX is powered by a 3.4-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 349hp, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A full-time four-wheel-drive system comes as standard, reinforcing its off-road credentials.
Despite its rugged exterior, the GX offers a plush interior with premium finishes and modern tech. Buyers can expect 6-seat or 7-seat configurations, making it suitable for both luxury touring and adventure-focused use.
What to Expect from Lexus India in 2026
If launched as expected, the new ES and GX will significantly broaden Lexus’ appeal in India, catering to buyers looking for a refined luxury sedan as well as those seeking a high-end, capable SUV. With hybrid powertrains, premium interiors and strong brand positioning, both models are poised to strengthen Lexus’ foothold in the Indian luxury car market.
All prices mentioned are estimated and ex-showroom.
