TVS is preparing to roll out an upgraded version of its popular Raider 125, and a recently surfaced video gives us a first look at the changes. The commuter motorcycle, which has been a strong seller since its debut in 2021, will soon get added safety equipment in the form of single-channel ABS and a rear disc brake. The timing is ideal, arriving just ahead of the festive season and in line with the upcoming 2026 ABS mandate.
Key Updates
-
Single-channel ABS now available
-
Rear disc brake added – a first in the 125cc segment
-
Wider tyres fitted (90/90-17 front, 110/80-17 rear)
-
No engine changes expected
The Raider spotted in the video seems to be based on the mid-spec iGo variant, identifiable by its colour LCD display. While the flagship SX trim is equipped with a 5-inch TFT screen, it too is expected to receive the safety upgrades shortly.
Currently, only the top Raider variants get a front disc brake, while the base “Drum” version makes do with drum units at both ends. With this update, the Raider will not only add ABS but also stand out as the only motorcycle in its class to feature a rear disc brake—something its direct rivals like the Honda CB125 Hornet, Bajaj Pulsar NS125 and Hero Xtreme 125R still miss out on.
No Changes Under the Skin
Mechanically, the Raider is set to continue with its tried-and-tested 124.8cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 11.4hp and 11.2Nm of torque. The strong balance of performance and efficiency is expected to remain unchanged.
Launch Timeline
Although TVS hasn’t made an official announcement yet, the updated Raider 125 has already been spotted at dealerships, suggesting that a formal launch is just around the corner. Prices will likely see a marginal hike, but the added equipment should make the Raider an even stronger contender in the 125cc segment.
